Framework is the rigid scaffolding that supports the sail structure of a kite. It includes the spars, the ferrules that connect the spars together to make them longer and the connectors that attach the spars in the proper configuration for a particular kite shape. Bamboo, hardwood dowels, fiberglass rod, filament wound epoxy tubes, carbon rod, pultruded carbon spars and wrapped carbon tubing are the best materials for kite framing. There are many different framework materials to choose from, each which meets a set of criteria best suited for different kinds of kiting.
